[Literally, he had no idea why he was doing this. But it was that voice that he had heard a flicker of... a voice he knew so well... that it had lingered with him long enough. Long enough to finally wear his patience nad curiosity enough to dive back into the network and force himself to locate... him.

He was here. The emotions that came in his chest upon seeing that contact were almost indescribable. The same ones that came in his chest when he saw him vanish away... But he was here... alive. Which was why he was calling.

[It wasn't like calling Caden was ever easy. The replica thing was there. Their past in Castle Oblivion. And now the new threads here in Ariel: giving Caden his name, working on figuring out his memories... and the most recent one... the dream. If he'd not wanted to see Caden for a while before the dream, he definitely had more a reason not to see him after. It wasn’t comfortable to know someone had seen him that low in his life... so weak that he had succumbed to the darkness once again and had to be pulled out by force.

Well... what happened after that was also a reason for his hesitance. Right there on the beach. He rubbed at the side of his neck as the memories still made a small pink come to his face. Stupid dreams... Whatever. That had been several days ago and he knew by now that things akin to it happened in Ariel. Just had to put it behind him and focus on other things.

Like calling Caden. Because he wanted to try again. He'd promised him to help with his memories... And seeing just how far Caden was willing to go for him in the dream, to pull him from the darkness... There were somethings he wanted to talk to the other boy about as well.

Ring, ring, ring.]

[To be fair, Cadence's list of people he expected to call him was rather short. Still, this would make the 2nd time Riku called him instead of the other way around, and the 2nd time that any one person had done it. That should have taken the previous conversation and put a nice little cap on it, served up on a silver platter: Yes, we're friends. Now we are. It's okay to just casually talk like this.

Except the dream had shaken him up badly, enough to do very drastic things to forget about it. He'd marked his body. He'd seen Riku's scars now, ones that he didn't have, but that wasn't enough. He had to stop his mind from replaying the dream, so the very next day he'd wandered in search of the kinds of shops he'd been avoiding and got two piercings in very specific places, because pain he understood perfectly well. Being aroused in the same 5-foot-radius as Riku? No. No he had tried that once and it just felt awkward as heck. He'd never seen his own face when he came, of course, yet there he'd been imagining Riku's, then seen it in a dream…

Yeah, he needed something else to focus on. He needed the two parts of him that were most involved in sex to just stop for a little while. Reckless, certainly, but that was Caden's way still.

So Riku calling was… unexpected to say the least. But he wasn't about to hang up on the guy, not after all he'd done for him. He couldn't honestly believe - now - that Riku had done any of it on purpose, anyway. So he does pick up… it just takes a few rings first.]

[Edmund's not sure Cadence will even be up at this hour, so after his shift at Masamune and he's on his way home, he decides to just send a text, so he won't disturb Cade if he's sleeping.]

Hey. I missed you tonight. It is two days since you told me to count on seeing you, right? Thought tonight was our night. Everything okay? You're still here, aren't you?

[He spent the day fretting about his dream the night before, then making his ultimate decision to just stop himself from thinking about sex at all for awhile. As was his trademark at the time, any amount of negative far outweighed the few positive encounters he'd had in Ariel, setting him back days, weeks emotionally.

As a result, the anesthesia alone in both tongue and groin had him absolutely convinced that he could get back to his apartment on his own power, as reckless as he'd been when he first arrived. It was appropriate then that after a few hours recovering at the clinic next door to the piercing studio, he'd attempted to walk home... and failed miserably. He got about a block away from the studio and had to lean against a wall, sliding down it exhausted and exactly as he'd stayed for several long hours after he'd arrived in Ariel.

In that moment, the dull throbbing throughout his body was the only thing on his mind, not sex at all - exactly how he'd been hoping. Edmund was the last person he expected to contact him after being so bitterly withdrawn over the dream with Riku and Yurick.]

[He's being both more snippy and more honest than he wants, but has even less of a filter than he normally does.]

[After finally making amends with Zexion over what had happened in the last couple of days, Genesis had one task he had to complete-- one that Zexion asked him to do as a condition for them to completely make up. Once he's connected, he'll leave a message.]

Hello, Cadence. This is Genesis Rhapsodos. I apologize for what happened at the gym and any harm I've caused you. I know it's not a proper excuse for what I did, but it seemed as if I was simply come over by a great anger that I hadn't felt in a very long time. If there is anything I can do to make it up to you, please let me know.

[He doesn't answer right away, trying to decide what exactly to say in response. About an hour later, he calls Genesis back.]

You say you're not normally like that, and I want to believe you. I'm still not sure how different you think you normally are, but... there is one thing you can keep in mind for me.

No matter who you're fighting, for whatever reason, even me, even if you're going in for the kill - especially then - if Zexion's with you? Don't go for a chokehold. Ever. Again. And I'm not telling you why either.

6/4 - Late evening

[Okay, so it took a while to get home. After his session with Edmund at Masamune and the conversation that had happened. Catching up with his friend had taken a lot out of him, especially with the things he had to admit to him. The event where his powers returned to the surge of jealousy that happened all over the city, both events sweeping him up in ways he was more than unwilling to part with but to the closest of his friends. And yet, Edmund had listened, they'd talked, comforted, caught up. He felt a little lighter because of it.

And that was before the sex. Riku's back hits the bed and he flops his arms above his head. Feels good to just lay here and give his body a rest.

But he can't rest too long. The final part of the evening is still burning in his mind and he knows he needs to make a few calls. To let people know. So to that effect, he makes a connection to Cadence, hoping to reach him. If not, he'll just leave a message.]

[He's been with Nico for about as long as Edmund's been at work, so it's not that weird that he finds a moment to excuse himself and think about the things he and Nico have been trying to sort out. The problem is Cadence is still hesitant from making any final decisions until he gets the chance to talk to Edmund about it. It just... it doesn't feel right, as open as Ariel is, to think about wanting to date two people are themselves dating without both of them being there. And then there was the offer to move in.

So yeah, saying he needs a few moments alone is more than merited.]

[He's still shaken enough to not really notice yet that Riku might be equally disoriented. They'd seen each other just 5 days ago, so this was fine - maybe he wanted to hang out again and Cade could ask for tomorrow instead.]

Listen up, recruits. The City of Ariel needs your cooperation in monitoring certain individuals during the upcoming Festival of Scylla. If someone is spotted wearing pale colors - WHITE and shades of GREY in particular - please report them to HQ as soon as possible. They are spitting on Scylla's memory by refusing to wear the bright, beautiful colors that she was so fond of.

Do not take any further action against these individuals unless they're in violation of our legal code.

You are free to enjoy the celebration otherwise, unless you have specifically requested patrol work.
