Yeah, I mentioned I'm from the same place he is, remember?

[He tried to be nice about it. Ven and Sora had only just met for all he knew.]

Yeah, I remember. I just wanted to be sure. [ He sounds hesitant though, and after a pause he continues. ]

Sora doesn't...have someone who looks just like him, does he?

[The question really makes him pause. This is a sensitive topic but Ven's tone helps smooth out his gut reaction to shut down. He takes a breath before answering.]

I can tell you I don't know of one, but, Ventus... [His voice weakens a bit] My memories really are screwed up, so I'm not really a good person to ask... [But now he's a little worried, honestly.] It sounds to me like you think there could be. I can tell you what I know if it'll help you out.

If you don't want to you don't have to Rep! [ Which he's even more certain of after hearing Rep speak of his memories. He couldn't burden him with recanting a tale that was obviously not one he wanted to. ] I just wanted to know if he--I don't know, had a brother.

[ He finishes that lamely, because even he knows that sounds horrendously unlikely. Plus, wouldn't Sora have mentioned a twin brother who looked exactly like him and tended to be a colossal dick? ]

I wish I could say no about having a brother too, but I was pretty vague last time. That's not your fault.

[ And maybe he wanted someone other than Sora or Riku, both horribly biased parties, to know.]

I found out since we met that the guys responsible for, well, creating me - that was Organization XIII. The specific guys aren't here.

[Good thing too.]

But here's the thing - I don't actually remember being a replica. The memories I have are Riku's childhood on Destiny Islands with Sora and this girl Naminé, plus a lot of traveling between worlds that he did. And fighting. Lots of fighting. What I'm saying is they made me think I was Riku, but why those memories are inside me is because of that same girl. Naminé had the power to do that to me and Vexen and Marluxia made her.

That's why, even though I don't remember Sora having a brother or anyone else looking like him, that doesn't mean I'm right.

Rep... [ Ventus doesn't even know what to say. Admitting that to anyone, let alone aloud like that can't have been easy. And to find out that everything he'd known hadn't been real from the get-go...? That everything he knew was just copied from someone else?

No wonder he'd reacted like that at Ventus' question.

Perhaps it's best he doesn't pursue the Sora duplicate then after all. ]

Saying not to worry about it is kind of like saying don't breathe. If you think there's another Sora running around this city, that concerns me - if not for my sake, then for Sora's. I still owe him a lot, Ventus.

So don't be sorry for a problem you didn't create. I deal with this every day.

Just--I ran into someone this morning who reminded me of him. A lot.

Reminding you of someone's different than a replica. [Hah, so he thinks.]

I mean, your eyes reminded me of Sora too, but I didn't think that was weird.

They do?? [ It sufficiently derails the subject he'd intended to speak about, that's for sure. His eyes were like Sora's?? He knew the colour was similar but the other teen always seemed to have this sort of...older air to him. Not necessarily mature, but he definitely looked like he Knew Things and was Capable.

Exactly what Ven would love to see himself as. ]

Oh--no it's not bad or anything! I just never thought about it before. He does feel sort of familiar sometimes though. Maybe that was it, heh. [ Maybe Ven looks older than he feels. That would be awesome. ]

I don't know. I've never met one before. [ You, which is the bit he doesn't add onto the end of that sentence. It just seems in poor taste. ] But he really did look like Sora, only his hair and eyes were different.

Other than me, you mean. [He'll bring it up. He's a little too comfortable degrading himself.] I do look exactly like the real thing, same hair, same eyes, same everything.

So even if he's not a replica, I do have to wonder who this guy is now.

Not...really. He just started asking me what the last thing I remembered was. It was really bizarre.

Axel said something about people being from the future and being able to remember things that hadn't happened yet. I wonder if he is?
